How personal information submitted through this website is collected, used, shared, retained and protected.
Who is responsible for your information
Man Tak (Victor) Mak, mortgage broker (BCFSA MB611823), operating under Sky Financial Corporation, business name The Mortgage Centre, BC brokerage licence #504452. Personal information is handled in accordance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What is collected, and where
Personal information reaches this site through three forms:
- Contact: name, contact details and the message you write.
- Mortgage enquiry: name, phone, email, preferred language and your preferred contact method and time. No income, credit, debt or other financial information is collected through this form. That is only requested after you have received the required representation disclosure.
- Booking: name, contact details, preferred meeting format and the time you select.
Clients who proceed complete the intake form, which collects the fuller set of information a lender requires. That form carries its own consent statement, which you must agree to before submitting.
How it is used
To respond to your enquiry, to assess and process a mortgage application, and to meet the record-keeping obligations of a licensed mortgage brokerage. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising by third parties.
Who it is shared with
Only with the parties necessary to act on your instructions: the lenders an application is submitted to, and where applicable the insurer, appraiser or lawyer involved in the transaction. Service providers used to operate this site (form delivery, database hosting and email) process information on our behalf under their own contractual obligations.
How long it is kept
Records relating to a mortgage application are retained for a minimum of seven years, as required by the BC Financial Services Authority. Enquiries that do not become applications are kept only as long as needed to respond to them.
Your rights
You may withdraw consent, request access to the personal information held about you, or ask that inaccurate information be corrected, by emailing victor.mak@mortgagecentre.com or calling 604-448-8833. Withdrawing consent may mean an application in progress cannot be completed.
